Our Visit to Rastatt and Schloss Favorite

Hi Everyone,

We began our day with a wonderful drive to Rastatt to see Schloss Favorite. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this place and the story behind it, check out this link for Schloss Favorite. The weather was remarkable and there was greenery for as far as the eye could see. Once on the property, we walked approximately 50 yards and came upon what I can only describe as sheer beauty. The palace was one of the few landmarks in the area that was not destroyed during World War II, and the state of Baden-Württemberg spent a great deal of money restoring it.

After Rastatt we made our way to Baden Baden, where there are natural mineral hot springs. Both Antonia and I are getting over coughs and congestion, and tried out the area's famous mineral water which is pumped straight from the spring, still hot, and tasting like sulphur.

Upon finishing a light lunch, we drove through the wine country, purchased a couple bottles of the local Riesling, and went to Burgruine Yburg (translation - Fortress Ruin Yburg), where we grabbed afternoon coffee. The fortress was built in 1245 and has a breathtaking 360 degree view of the Black Forest and the surrounding vineyards.
