Hello, Karlsruhe and Ettlingen, we're here.

Germany at last!!!
Once we arrived in Frankfurt, Antonia's stepmother, Marianne, who is German, picked us up at the airport and took us to her mother's home in Karlsruhe about an hour and a half away so that we could see her mother Maria and recover from jetlag.
To stay awake, we took a quick tour around Karlsruhe and neighboring Ettlingen and had a cappuccino and a piece of Pflaumenkuechen (plum tart). For dinner we had Dampfnudelen with apricot preserves. This is an Austrian dish that Maria made especially for Antonia. I have now grown rather fond of this dish and will soon be adding it to my repertoire.
I really enjoyed meeting Marianne's mother. She is such a sweet and generous lady and a GREAT cook!!! :)
